Ice Cream Maker!

Helping Grandpa make ice cream at the campsite in Vandalia, IL!

Henry the Builder

With some party favors provided by his cousins.

Funny story...One morning when I went in to get Henry up, he was propping his pillow against the crib. He proudly proclaimed, "I'm building a house! I'm building a house for Bob!" This boy has quite the imagination!

Kankakee County Fair - August 2010

The trip would not have been complete without a stop at the fair! We sampled some fair food with Uncle Paul and Aunt Linda. Then Henry rode a few rides. He was willing to get on and smile, but once the ride would start he looked pretty serious and held on tight until he got off. I think the Super Slide was his favorite. We also bought some homemade Thomas (the train) pillows and toured some campers!
Overall, we had wonderful time on this whole trip. Not pictured were great meals with friends and family, a Jaenicke's Root Beer Stand dinner, and our trip to the Farmer's Market. Thanks to everyone for hosting us!

Time with Friends and Family

Chad and Henry in Uncle Denny and Aunt Terry's backyard.

Hugging a new friend, Lily, Nora's daughter.
Reading Papa Chick's favorite book The Very Busy Spider.
Enjoying a visit with his fabulous Great, Great Aunt Marge! (P.S. Thanks for the Munchkins!)

Exploration Station - August 2010

We headed to the Exploration Station in Bourbonnais on Friday with Jen and Sam. The place had really changed since the last time I was there. Henry certainly explored it to the max and had a great time! Some highlights included the four-wheeler, fighter jet, fire truck, ship, ambulance, water table, and grocery store.

Park and Play

After the aquarium, we were treated to a buffet by Uncle Paul. Then we spent some time at a nearby park. Henry did a lot of vacuuming that evening with a new favorite toy borrowed from his second cousins, Sam and Miles. He's also practicing some modeling poses (he still needs to work on his Blue Steel).

Shedd Aquarium - August 2010

Our little summer vacation was taken in my hometown of Kankakee, IL. We arrived in time for dinner at Monical's Pizza with family and DQ too. The next day we made the trek to Chicago and the Shedd Aquarium without incident (and great parking, I might add). As school employees, we were all admitted for free and even scored free tickets to the whale and dolphin show! We enjoyed the Polar Play Zone, lunch with a beautiful view, and all the fish!
